Enigma is an Italian start-up spin-off of the Politecnico di Milano that develops new innovative and technologically advanced systems to protect the identity of physical objects. The system is able to uniquely identify both batches of product and the individual physical object (thus guaranteeing traceability) even on large batches. Our solution offers a unique level of security, thanks to a two-level protection system.
The first level is given by the use of a range of inks developed at the Politecnico di Milano exploiting the use of a new family of photoactive nanostructures, whose signal varies as the individual atom varies. The second level is based on an encrypted code printed with our ink that allows the physical object to be associated with information about it on a remote database. This information can be made public or private and with different levels of access depending on the customer's needs.
The ENIGMA tag can be invisible and reduced to the size of even a couple of millimetres on each side, and can also be printed along the production line, making it suitable for serial production without changes to the product or packaging design.
