Alessandro Vidale, CEO of the company, gained competencies in the field of nanotechnology during his university career. Sonia Peggiani, CTO of Enigma, with a strong passion for nanotechnology and its applications, obtained a PhD in the field of nanomaterials. Alessandro and Sonia have been working closely together for 6 years in the micro and nanostructured materials laboratory of the Politecnico di Milano, with the collaboration of Prof. Casari and Dr. Facibeni, renowned scientists active for over 20 years on optically active nanotechnologies. Technical excellence, supported by the business skills brought by the Day One startup studio, has allowed us to embark on a journey of innovation and entrepreneurship that has led to the constitution of the startup Enigma and an unmatched anti-counterfeiting solution. For over three years, the team has been dedicated to the research and consolidation of strategic partnerships and the development of the technology that constitutes the heart of Enigma, obtaining recognition at Italian and European level.

Roadmap
Launched in 2023
The technology behind ENIGMA emerged from a research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC), an organization that supports only projects of the highest scientific significance. Over the past three years, we have pursued multiple projects at both European and national levels, focusing on validating our technology and transforming it into market-ready products for various sectors. Founded in June 2023, ENIGMA is now preparing for industrial pilot programs over the next two years, aiming to achieve product certification and enter the market by 2026.
